Tai Chi & Qigong

at Rancho San Pedro

Tai Chi is an ancient Martial art at its core but so much more than that. It cultivates Chi (energy) and redirects it to its purpose. The style is that of defence and uses the energy of your opponent to defeat them. It is done very slowly (you can see it in the parks of China with hundreds of people doing it at the same time) and again is used for health and also as meditation. Due to its rich heritage in Taoist spirituality, it is a method for spiritual growth. Due to its profound utility as a fighting art it has become the martial art of choice for many serious fighters. In the middle and common to both is Tai Chi's powerful application as a self-healing tool.

The practice triggers health and healing benefits from both the Asian paradigm of energy and the Western paradigm of physiology. The balance and flow of one's internal self healing energies is enhanced by the slow, purposeful, meditative movements of Tai Chi. At the very same time the delivery of oxygen and nutrition from the blood to the tissues is improved. The lymph system's ability to eliminate metabolic by-products and transport immune cells is increased. The biochemical profile of the brain and nervous system is shifted toward recovery and healing.

During your stay you will learn the Tai Chi Short Form.

We practise each morning in the Orchard surrounded by the morning birds & butterflies. We also hold workshops on other forms of Tai Chi but this is by request.

Qigong

The word Qigong breaks into Qi and Gong: Qi = vitality, energy, life force, Gong = practice, cultivate, refine; Qigong = to cultivate and refine through practice one's vitality or life force. The primary mechanism that is triggered by the practice of Qigong is a spontaneous balancing and enhancing of the natural healing resources in the human system. Over thousands of years millions of people have benefited from these practices believing that improving the function of the Qi maintains health and heals disease. By practising Qigong you are not only energising your own vital life force but you are also disconnecting the left side of the brain and entering a meditation state. Whilst in meditation, right brain dominant, you are able to connect spiritually. Reiki & Qigong combines are extremely powerful tools in your own development.

During your stay you will learn Qigong for raising, balancing and calming the Chi (universal life force).

We practise each morning in the Orchard surrounded by the morning birds & butterflies.
